Some communities formed committees that will sensitise their community with regard to the inter-linkages between culture, gender-based violence (GBV), women’s rights and HIV.

Community-based volunteers (CBVs) are in a position to help out in their communities in an effort to curb violence.

Twenty sexual cleansers have stopped being hired for sexual cleansing with widows. An anti-sexual cleansing group has been set up, consisting of 20 members who once have been sexual cleansers.

To date more than 500 cases on gender-based violence (GBV) have been referred to legal authorities giving credit to the impact the community sensitisation meetings and dialogues have on the communities.
