Zimbabwe: ZAPSO Launches 3 DVDs
HARARE, 31 July 2008 (Herald) - The Zimbabwe AIDS Prevention and Support Organisation last week launched three 15-minute DVDs on HIV and AIDS to be used as training material at workplaces.
The three DVDs are on management sensitisation, workplace policy development and treatment literacy.
Speaking during the official launch held in the capital, ZAPSO development worker Dr Nyikadzino Mahachi said the DVDs would be used to educate employers and employees on HIV and AIDS issues.
"Employers should be educated on various issues on the pandemics so that they do not make profits at the expense of the employees' health.
"The DVDs are meant to be training material and improve treatment literacy amongst each and every organisation," said Mahachi.
He also added that the DVD's main objectives were to assist companies in implementing HIV and AIDS policies.
"These DVDs also give the employer and employee vital information about treatment which will guide them in making informed decisions," Mahachi said.
He also added that the DVDs also highlighted various treatment forms, which include traditional and psycho-social support.
He also said the workplace must be on the frontline in the fight against HIV and AIDS.
The audio-visual material will be used for training and capacity building, ultimately with the aim of ensuring that HIV and AIDS-related policy and programming enables increased access to the various treatment for people living with the pandemic.
