Proposals by the Southern African Protocol Alliance on the April 2008 Draft of the SADC Protocol on Gender and Development

While  the  current  draft  of  the  SADC  Protocol  on  Gender  and  Development  is  a considerable  improvement  on  the watered  down  version  that Heads  of  State  sent back for consultation  in August 2007, there are still a number of concerns. Many of these centre on the need to align the Protocol with key gains made  in  international and  regional  processes  so  that  the  Protocol  can  truly  encompass  and  enhance existing commitments.
