The Embassy of the Kingdom of Netherlands (EKN) held a fun day for its workers and their families at Cresta Lodge on 5 January 2012. SAfAIDS provided logistical support to the event combined for both the adults and children. The master of ceremony was the famous Hazvinei Sakarombe (DJ Chillie) who led the event right through to end of day. Mrs Barbara Joziasse the Dutch Ambassador to Zimbabwe graced the occasion as guest of honour.

Executive Summary

Different policies, systems, and programmes for sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) have led to substantial positive results in southern Africa such as well-spaced, healthier families and modest decreases in infant and maternal mortality. HIV prevention efforts have led to significant declines or notable stabilisation in HIV prevalence in southern African countries. However, given the current state of the HIV epidemic today, the parallel processes of sexual and reproductive health (SRH) and HIV prevention may have peaked in their effectiveness. They have remained separate and detached, despite the logical connections between them.

AIDS, Leadership and Service Delivery in South Africa: What people think, Institute for Democracy in South Africa, (IDASA)

This paper builds on the findings of the Governance and AIDS Programe's (GAP) local government study by Chirambo and Steyn (2009). In that study it was discovered that that there is fear of ostracism among councillors that influences their attitude towards disclosure, VCT and antiretroviral therapy, with implications for their effectiveness in service delivery... This paper is also motivated by the desire for a balanced involvement of consumers and suppliers in the provision and consumption of HIV and AIDS goods and services, just like the supply chain of purely private goods.

This document summarises the fi ndings of research by SAfAIDS on implementation of regional and international HIV prevention, treatment, care and support conventions and declarations in Swaziland and Zambia. The goal of the assessment was “to assess the extent to which the Governments of Swaziland and Zambia have eff ectively implemented HIV and AIDS prevention, care, treatment and support strategies in line with the major international commitments and declarations to which they are signatories”.
