The purpose of the DF was to review the Ministry of Health and Child Welfare's position/policy in relation to TB infection and its co-existence with HIV. The discussion also focused on how the medical fraternity and community based organisations are responding to the dual TB and HIV epidemic as well as to seek recommendations on how TB and HIV co-infection can effectively be dealt with in Zimbabwe.

One of the world's highest burden countries, Zimbabwe already has some shocking TB challenges to address. The country is the 20th most TB affected nation in the world. TB is curable but it has resulted in the deaths of millions of people in Africa as a whole. It's linkages with HIV and AIDS have made the situation worse.

The forum brought together government, People Living With HIV, HIV and AIDS activists, AIDS Service Organisations, Community Based Organisations, private sector organisations, Faith Based Organisations and other key stakeholders involved in HIV and AIDS programmes.
